| 説明 | A soldier of the East Lancashire Regiment is crouched in a shallow trench holding a small dog. Other soldiers in the background appear to be getting into the same trench. The soldier is in full kit and wearing his steel helmet, but there appears to be little immediate danger as his rifle has a cover on and the other men are in the open.Animals such as dogs, rabbits and even goats, appear in photographs of the war, apparently adopted by the soldiers as mascots.
