| 説明 | I have been waiting on the publication of this guide and as it is now available I set off to enjoy the walk. I started from Ripon using a link route heading south to Cayton Gill then west and north west through Pateley Bridge to its northern reaches at Scar House Reservoir where the route turns back on the opposite side of the valley for the return. I had very good weather throughout, quite sunny on day 1 when I walked 20 miles before making my camp above Smelthouses Dry but less sun and more wind on day 2 which saw a further 27 miles completed before my wild camp at the southern tip of Gouthwaite Reservoir. My final day's walk was a long 31.5 miles which saw me ultimately floundering in the darkness in Hell Wath Woods on the return approach to Ripon - two many pathways in the woods, two many choices but I finished back at my car in Ripon an hour or so after dusk had fallen. A total elapsed time of two days, eight hours and 40 minutes. Climbing is not excessive and I recorded a modest 4,004' of ascent which made for faster walking.
