| 説明 | Another look at Kintamani/ Batur Lake- Agung (the volcano we spoke about earlier- see previous pictures) is behind the cloud patch at extreme right in this picture. But the star of the show is actually to the left (see next few pictures)- the Kintamani volcano, also called Mount Batur (Gunung Batur). This is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung (which you saw previously- see earlier pictures in this album) on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake (Lake Batur, which you can see in the distance). The inner 7.5-kilometer-wide caldera, which was formed during emplacement of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite, has been dated at about 23,670 and 28,500 years ago. The first documented eruption of the Kintamani/ Mt. Batur volcano was in 1804 and the most recent was in 2000. (Bali, Indonesia, May 2018) |
