| 説明 | The USS Hornet is an aircraft carrier that was commissioned during World War II and served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. It also had the distinction of being the recovery ship for the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 capsules. It is now a museum ship in the San Francisco Bay and is tied to a pier in Alameda, the site of a former Naval Air Station. The ship is a fascinating look at Navy technology -- even if it is not the most current technology. You can see many areas of the ship.This is one of the many aircraft on board. It is a Lockheed S-3B Viking which was used primarily as an anti-submarine aircraft. This Viking was sitting on the flightdeck of the Hornet, near the bow, with the wings folded. |
