| 説明 | A bottle of The Oak Podge from Picobrouwerij Alvinne in Heule, Belgium, at the Beer Table in Brooklyn, New York.Beer Table is a small but cozy beer pub on 427B 7th Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, where we ended up after having a gorgeous Italian meal just across the avenue. One of the beers we were recommended was this one from the small Belgian brewery Alvinne.Alvinne The Oak Podge is the US name of the beer that is known as Alvinne Podge Bourgogne Barrel Oak Aged in Europe. It's a 9% abv imperial stout which, as the name implies, was aged for several months in Pinot Noir wine barrels from Burgundy.The beer poured a clear red brown color with a beige head. Fruity aroma, of sour cherries, with some sweet malt and an oaky barrel note of vanilla. Fizzy mouthfeel, slightly acidic. Flavor starts out with some malt sweetness that is more than offset by a balsamic vinegar sourness and a tart oaky note that lingers in the finish. This beer reminds me more of a Flemish Red (E.g. Duchesse de Bourgogne) than a stout and could double well for a cider. |
