| 説明 | A sign pointing to the exit and the Cremation temple at the far end of the Sacred Monkey Forest in Bali. Now that is something more sinister! At the time of my visit, I did not know about the once in five years mass cremation ceremony held at this temple and that one of the temples in the park being associated with death and reincarnation. I was however very curious to see the cremation temple a I'd seen several blogs about the superbly ornate and colourful Bali cremations with large paper and bamboo buffalo, dragon or palace shaped biers holding the coffins, and the ceremonies and animal sacrifice associated with it etc. associated with it. My guide, though bemused, agreed to bring me there. No ongoing cremations here though, he warned me. Which is just a well. I'd have felt most uncomfortable if there was, yet confused as I'd have loved to photograph the grand spectacle but would have been in quandry as to how to do it respectfully and without causing offence.
