説明 | Indian Round Bronze and Silver Coins of Shiladitya with Head of King and Geometric Designs (Maitraka, 606AD - 616AD, Gujarat) in National Museum, DelhiArt of IndiaCrafts of IndiaSculpture of IndiaPeople of IndiaKings of IndiaDesigns of IndiaCommerce of IndiaMetalwork of IndiaCoins of IndiaMuseums of IndiaNew DelhiNational Capital TerritoryIndiaIndian coinage starts very primitive with the die-punched coins of Gandhara, then reaches a very high Hellenistic level under the Greek (Indo-Greek) kings and then gradually deteriorates. The Maitraka engraved images have crude line drawings of the king's face and have abandoned the effort to have a figured reverse, reducing it to a geometric pattern of dots. The coins lack inscriptions. The deterioration and stylization are very similar to the Celtic coins minted in England after the departure of the Romans.Taken at Latitude/Longitude:28.611937/77.218799. 0.57 km South-East Paharganj Delhi India (Map link) |
