| 説明 | We are now at the portals of the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, Bali, a very pleasant patch of dense bush with scores of free ranging monkeys scampering about, which is held sacred by the locals. (notes appear in the next few captions). Here is a bunch of tourists leaving after their tour of the facility, while several others wait their turn to buy tickets. It was with some trepidation that I entered the facility, thanks to scores of stories I'd read about unruly monkeys and their snatching bags and stuff, or even biting tourists. My guide assured me that it was ok here, it's monkeys in another forest elsewhere in Lombok where monkeys are very aggressive. So seeing that the tourists coming out were still in one piece and in good shape, I decided to take the plunge. (Bali, Indonesia, May 2018) |
