| 説明 | Damaged B25 tailcone recovered by the AHSNT for B25D Hawg-Mouth Serial 41-30222. March 2007 and further rivetting is made to the rebuilt tailcone by Mike Wright with assistance from AHSNT member Cathy Myor.This WWII bomber was landed short of fuel in the Tanami Desert following a fat cat run on 6 April 1944. The crew were picked up by truck the next day and driven into Tennant Creek from where they were repatriated to their unit the 380th Bomb Group..In the following years the rear section of the aircraft was removed by explosives to stop a recovery by air.All efforts to acquire a rear fuselage and tail had been unsuccessful. The remaining aircraft has been renovated by the Society and a new tail section including this tail cone has now been completed. The rear fuselage remains to be built as a future project. |
