| 説明 | What more could I ask for than the long awaited arrival of Navy girl! My Fabulous daughter coming home from the Navy! We Missed Her Unbelievably! Proud? HOOYA! Long story but worth it.... She entered bootcamp Sept '09 and the week before she graduated she broke her pelvis clean in half and fractured her tibia. She refused to give up and stayed in bootcamp until mid-Feb '10, when she fractured another bone and ran out of time. Her dream was to become a career a US Navy Officer, and her dreams shattered along with her bones. Unfortunately Cass was diagnosed with severe osteopenia, bordering on osteoperosis. There was no way she could continue her Navy career because she had such high risk of crippling herself permanently. She is now under the care of a Rheumatologist and taking things one month at a time. She did have some high accomplishments while she was there. She had been selected for a 900 division, the 900 divisions are the elite. They have to have a high ASVAB score, and usually some background in performing or military, Cass scored a 94 on her ASVAB and had played both flute and tuba in school. These recruits are supposed to have the most military bearing and be squared away more than any other, and much more is expected of them. Because they are performing units the 900 divisions have to train all the time in military drill. Not only do they have to complete all the training normal divisions go through but, they also have to maintain above 95% in their academics as well as train in drill. She stayed in boot camp a full 4 months longer than it would normally take to graduate. Can you imagine that? Many people barely make it through the usual 6 weeks, and she refused to leave for another 4 months! That's heart and dedication! She was temporarily promoted to a petty officer status and took on the position of Medical Yoman during that time. Academically she was at the top of her division, she had passed EVERY requirement for bootcamp except the 2 mile run....... and yet she kept trying, until she fractured both knees and a foot while pushing herself in physical therapy. She finally came home to heal, determined to go back and do it again when she was stronger. Unfortunately her condition is more serious than anticipated and she will likely never regain enough bone strength to meet the running requirement. I won't bore you any longer, but I will say I couldn't be more proud of my child! She has courage, heart, determination, and I could go on & on........ it's an honor to be her mom....she has taught me as much as I ever taught her. |
