説明 | This boarded up pub in Eastside is the Moby Dicks. I saw a building boarded up and quickly went to investigate it.It was a Banks's Free House. Was also home of the Birmingham Yacht Club, which celebrated its centenary in 1989.It is a historic pub in an industrial area, it has been bought by developers.It is currently closed and derelict.At 12 Penn Street.It might be getting demolished (I hope not).Don't know of the history of this pub though.Sign of Moby Dicks.This is the Eastside Locks area.Grade II Listed BuildingEagle and Ball Public HouseDescriptionPENN STREET1.5104 Nechells B4Eagle and BallPublic HouseSP 08 NE 7/74II2.Corner site with Gopsal street. Crica 1840-50 public house. Three storeysred brick with stucco trim. Three bays to both elevations with lower 2 storeywing to Gopsal Street. First floor sill band to both fronts. Hipped slateroof with flat eaves. Corniced brick chimney stacks. Panelled pilaster publichouse fronts to both elevations under deep entablature. Panelled risers towindows with late C19 leaded glazing. Corner entrance and 2 seondary doors.Windows on upper floors have revealed glazing bar sashes in architrave surrounds,those on first floor with consoles to sills and cornices with blocking course,the centre first floor window on each front pedimented. Five bay wing hasblind windows and central segmental carriage arch. stucco eaves band. Steeperpitch of roof over right hand bays.Listing NGR: SP0805487302 |
