Seeing my lust for trains, he had been promising me all day to bring me to this disused train station and he had kept his word I was surprised to see this station so close to downtown- when he mentioned disused train station, and kept putting it off as the last stop, I sort of thought we would have to drive outside of the main city into the suburbs somewhere. But no, Ngabean, as this station was called, was within walking distance from the main Y/Jogjakarta train station. I could not explore the building due to the heavy drizzle and also because the rooms had been taken up by a family, so I did not want to trespass into a private residence. We had to retreat pretty fast after this as it was really pouring heavily at this point. (Y/Jogjakarta, Indonesia, May 2018) |
