説明 | Was going around at lunchtime for snow shots (by then the sun had come out), and saw this pub at the end of Bath Street (seen from the other side of St Chad's Queensway).It is the Gunmakers Arms - A Mitchells & Butlers Public House. The first floor is surrounded by scaffolding for some reason.It is a Grade II listed building on the corner of Bath Street and Little Shadwell Street.Formerly it was called the Pike and Musket.Circa 1820, corner block formerly of 3 houses, now one house and pub. Threestoreys rendered and coused. Corbelled eaves. Half hipped slate roof.Three windows to upper floors and one surviving ground floor window: revealedglazing bar sashes on first floor with stucco heads flanked by small consolesand their cornices. No 93 retains architrave doorway with rounded cornerblocks. Pub door formerly to house with architrave moulding and console brackets.Good small mid C19 corner pub front pilastered with entablature bowed aroundcorner. One bay return and 2 storey wing.Gunmakers Arms - Heritage GatewayA sign in the window of the Gunmakers Arms warning that this is an alcohol restricted area (outside the pub)Looking at the Images of England on Heritage Gateway, this pub used to be painted pink.
