| 説明 | The Dublin sculptor Rowan Gillespie designed this impressive group of statues commemorating the Great Famine of the mid 19th century. During that time about one million people died. Another million emigrated from Ireland. The Famine Memorial sculpture on Custom House Quay is located on the departure site of the Perseverance, one of the first famine ships to leave Dublin in 1846. It shows a group of people about to enter the ship with various expressions of sadness, despair, and hope. The image was intensively edited with the help of Lightroom and Photoshop. I had the feeling that a purely naturalistic photo would not pay enough tribute to this topic, in particular, because this sculpture is perhaps the most photographed piece of public art in Ireland. |
