説明 | Bicycle racers compete in the Skull 120/60/30 off-road race in southeast Oregon, June 16, 2018. The inaugural event, dubbed as America’s “gnarliest gravel race,” challenged racers to ride on mostly remote public lands for distances of 127 miles, 65 miles and 37 miles. In addition to the impressive distances and off-roading nature of the race, riders also faced thousands of feet of elevation gain, cattle guards and water crossings. Jonathan Maus, publisher and editor of the popular Bike Portland blog, competed in the race and described it as “a celebration of public lands” in his write-up.“I spent just under 10 hours on my saddle in near constant amazement at the diversity of terrain and magnificence of the pristine environments we rolled through,” wrote Maus. All races began in Burns, Oregon, then took riders through southeast Oregon forests, deserts and canyons. Snow Mountain, at a little over 7,100 feet, was the elevation summit for the race.
