説明Sorry, I can't resist a dig at the now-notable "French Quarter," which did not exist until it was created by the former Mayor Joseph P. Riley in 1976 as part of his Herculean efforts to promote tourism, which (take it from a native) have backfired spectacularly, "beautifying" but spoiling what was once a truly fascinating old city.
