Leaves are usually flat, 25–90 cm long, usually 1.5–3 mm wide, green, greyish green or rarely glaucous; apex is entire. Male flowerheads are 1- or 2-branched or rarely unbranched with whorled flower clusters. Female flowerheads are similar, unbranched. Male flowers occur on pedicels usually 3–8 mm long. Female flowers are larger and sessile. Flowers from June–January. Grows chiefly in woodland and forest, on a variety of soils |
