説明 | PVT Maliq Martin is featured as the California National Guard Soldier of the Week for May 7, 2018."Hi, my name is PVT Martin and I am an 13J: Field Artillery Automated Data Systems Specialist. I’m 19 years old, and enlisted in the California National Guard right after I graduated from high school. I wanted to serve my country and #community, but still go to school and earn my education as well. I hope to gain skills that I can implement into my civilian life.My BCT experience was quite a crazy one for me. I did a lot of new things I never thought I was capable of doing; shooting, throwing grenades, cleaning when it is freezing cold outside. Just overall a bunch of new things that all in all made me a better person and now a #Soldier. My AIT experience was the complete opposite. It was fun because of the many fun battles I had with me, and it was basically like going to school. My parents and cousin inspired me to join the National Guard. My parents were able to see how well my cousin was doing in the #CalGuard and insisted on me serving as well. I was quite hesitant at first, but now view it as a major investment towards myself and my future. One line from the Soldiers Creed that means the most to me is ‘I am an American Soldier,’ because It shows that I took a big step in life and that I have a responsibility for not just myself anymore, but for everyone. One core Army value that means the most to me is #loyalty because I have to be loyal to who and what I’m serving no matter who it is or the mission. I now have a job that I must do.”Please take the time to congratulate this Citizen Soldier on his Gold Phase Graduation Ceremony, and most importantly his return back to us in our wonderful state of California. |
