| 説明 | At the end of the 19th century, Tjurkö became the center of the stonemasonry industry in Blekinge. The granite and gneiss were excellent for making paving stones from and people were employed, which meant that the population increased markedly on Tjurkö and the neighboring island of Sturkö. At the turn of the century, Tjurkö stonemasonry was one of the largest workplaces in Sweden with 2,000 employees and the large quarries still testify to the hard work. |
