ShookRemark: This church structure, built in 1905, still exists [2023] and is located on the south side of present day Lincoln Avenue between Second Street and South Calumet Road in Chesterton, Porter County, Indiana.The following information about the predecessor to this church appears in the April 1, 1880, issue of the Porter County Vidette:The Methodist Swedes will soon have completed a neat little church, having bought the old school house on the north side and moved it east of the brick parsonage.-----------The congregation sold their former church at auction on Tuesday, August 8, 1905. The following item appears in the August 3, 1905, issue of The Chesterton Tribune:MISCELLANEOUS.AUCTION SALE OF CHURCH BUILDING.On Tuesday, Aug. 8, 1905, at 2 o'clock p. m., the church building of the Swedish M. E. congregation will be sold at public auction to the highest bidder. Sale will be held at the building.COMMITTEE.-----------The following news item appeared in the August 3, 1905, issue of The Chesterton Tribune:LOCAL NEWS OF THE WEEKDemass Bros. have secured the contract to build the new Swedish M. E. church in Chesterton. The structure will be of brick venire, 28 by 48.
