説明The Parade, Donaghadee, County Down with a gaggle of youngsters and (whisper it) a DOG! The dress of the children should assist in putting an approximate date on the image between the sailor suited boy, the pinafore wearing girls and the young lady with the white hat and muffler. Her attire might indicate that the weather was cold - rather than summery? And indeed, partially based on the clothes, but most especially based on catalogue-crawling and directory-diving, the general consensus is that this image was captured sometime between 1912 and 1918. Perhaps 1913 or 1916. This is based on the fact that Caproni's Confentioners and the Searock Café don't appear in the street directories until at least the 1911/1912 directories. And the Tea Rooms seem to be "gone" by the time of the 1918 directory. Within our own catalogue, this view also appears in at least two "montages" we hold. One dated 1913, the other 1916...Photographer: UnknownCollection: Eason Photographic CollectionDate: Catalogue range c.1900-1939. Likely between 1912 and 1918 (businesses visible). Perhaps 1913 or 1916NLI Ref: EAS_1262You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie
