説明 | Map showing the 2018-2019 accretion to the Euclid Creek Reservation, a park in the Cleveland Metroparks system in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. The park board announced on March 15, 2018, that it spend $542,274 to purchase 63.3 acres in Richmond Heights from real estate development company K. Hovanian Homes. The deal will close in May 2019.This is the second-largest addition to the Euclid Creek Reservation since the park was created in 1920. The largest expansion of the park came in June 2013, when the 340-acre Euclid Beach, Villa Angela, and Wildwood segments of the Cleveland Lakefront State Park were added. The land is mostly wetland woods with mostly mature trees. Species found there include American beech, American elm, black gum, chestnut oak, pin oak, red maple, and shagbark hickory.A number of trails are used by residents of the nearby Charleston Square, Highland Ridge, Parkside, and Richmond Place developments to access the acreage and the steep Euclid Cree valley below. A dirt lane, Rear Quarry Trail, extends from Parkside Blvd. to Stoneledge Drive. The border between the Hovanian property and park are well-defined by a straight border of trees and a clear-cut.A manmade pond and giant mound of earth off Stoneledge Drive will be leveled by Hovanian Homes and seeded with wildflowers before the real estate transfer occurs. The base map is from OpenStreetMap. The data for the property boundaries come from the Cuyahoga County GIS system. The boundary of the Euclid Creek Reservation is in bright green, while that of the addition is in red. |
