説明The observation was made from Brighton, Sussex, UK (coordinates: latitude: 50° 51' North, longitude: 0° 08' West). The orbit of the space station never takes it much further north (or south) than 51.6°. With an approximately 215 miles altitude, at its nearest point the ISS was roughly as close to Brighton as Manchester (UK) or Paris (France). The photographs were taken just after dusk at about 10 p.m. GMT (also coincidentally the local "real" time, because Brighton lies very near the Greenwich Meridian) on a June summer evening. The camera was set to ISO/ASA 400.• The left hand image is a 75 second exposure, showing the Space Station rising in the west against a sky illuminated by the lights of Hove and the retreating dusk.• The centre image is a 37 second exposure pointing overhead.• The right hand image is a 133 second exposure, showing the Space Station setting in the east against a sky illuminated by the the lights of Kemp Town. The gaps in the line are obviously the time periods when the camera was being readjusted on the tripod.Local predictions for potential (cloud free clear visibility dependent) ISS sightings can be found at Heavens Above or NASA sightings. Because the space station's photovoltaic solar cell array has been built up to quite a large size, even daytime sightings are sometimes possible.
