説明 | Clover Avenue/south facade of the 1903 building of the former Cleveland Dental Manufacturing Company factory located at 3307 Scranton Road in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. In 2003, the factory was converted into the Metro Lofts.Cleveland Dental Manufacturing (later known as Clev-Dent) was established by two dental equipment salesmen about 1893. Their original location was a small office in the Cleveland Arcade. Their business expanded rapidly in 1903 after they began selling a revolutionary nitrous oxide-oxygen delivery device. This structure, designed by local architect George J. Hardway (1858-1929), was 150 feet long and 76 feet deep. It was three storys, and all brick except for the roof (which was concrete and steel).A major addition was made to the east side of the factory in 1916. This formed a U-shaped courtyard on the north. It is unclear who the architect was.To maintain a uniform appearance in the south facade, Hardway gave the elevator shaft windows. |
