説明 | My cousin Vera visiting the Cloisters in NYC during her first US visit in '93.Cloister: A place, or state of seclusion; a covered passage on the side of a court usually having one side walled and the other an open arcade or colonnade(Merriam Webster online). An amazing collection of European artifacts amassed by Rockefeller, showcased in an appropriate setting as curated by the Metropolitan Museum New York. It's all kinds of wonderful, combining Architecture, Tapestries, Sculpture, Woodwork, Calligraphy, History and more., While mostly Judaeo-Christian in origin the works are not a deterrent to tourists and lovers of Art and History. And considering this is located in Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan, a block away from the heart of the Bornx Barrio, its charm, serenity and feeling of solitude was somewhat ethereal to me.www.metmuseum.org/cloisters/generalNY Mag Review : nymag.com/listings/attraction/cloisters/ |
