説明 | The Seril Dodge/Avis Brown (wooden) House (1786) at 10 (a two-story house until raised one floor in 1906 to install a ground floor grocery) & The Seril Dodge (brick) House (1791) at 11 were connected with a second-story bridge in 1920.In H. P. Lovecraft's "The Call of Cthulhu," young Henry Anthony Wilcox, who had been studying sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design, and making a singular clay bas-relief "in a dream of strange cities" while living alone at the Fleur-de-Lys Building at 7 Thomas Street, finds that the conservative Providence Art Club finds him quite hopeless.Lovecraft and his aunts Lillian Delora Phillips (Clark) and Annie Emeline Phillips (Gamwell) attended art shows here; and Lillian even had canvasses displayed in exhibitions here.Photo taken by Will Hart on 18-August-1990.See and hear more Lovecraftian Items at the sister sites to these Flickr collections at:cthulhuwho1.comandwww.youtube.com/user/CthulhuWho1 |
