| 説明 | I could see plenty of roots and herbs on sale here, just like in Sirince (Turkey) which I had visited in Nov.2014 . The aroma from these herbs made the walk on the rough flag stoned streets of Lahic a little less cumbrous. The mid afternoon harsh sun beating down upon our heads like a drum was no help either. The bunch in the foreground appears to be zatar, a wild herb which when powdered can be used in tea, pies and croissants, but as for the carton in the background, I really have no idea what it is. Lahic is famous for it's craftsmanship, but also has it's share of traditional foods and herbs on sale. Much of this is of course aimed towards tourists nowadays, but the elderly here try to make a living whatever way they can, with many of the younger generation having moved to Baku and elsewhere, seeking their fortunes in the oil and gas industry. Some of the young of course still remain, and largely serve the tourism industry, especially in terms of the many shops and craft emporia that line the historic streets.
