| 説明 | Despite the fascination of going to a place which is truly isolated and deep in the mountains, getting to Lahic is no fun at all. (notes about Lahic itself appears later in this album). Before this road existed, Lahic was almost completely isolated. It’s a one hour drive from Ismailli now, but without the road, this is a journey that could have taken days in the harsh and mountainous terrain. This road is unsealed and pretty rough and dusty but I was told that it has been purposely kept that way so that visitors can have a true idea of the remoteness of the place. The river follows a deep river gorge for most of the way- you can see one of the not so deep portions of it to the right. This reminded me of the rough road from Kazbegi/ Stepantsminda in Georgia to the Russia border which I had seel in Sept. 2016. Only that road had been destroyed by a landslide but had been patched up and still rough and unsealed despite a constant flow of traffic into and out of Russia. (Sheki, Azerbaijan, Sept. 2017) |
