| 説明 | Cloud Gate, also known as The Bean or Electric Kidney Bean, the centerpiece of Millennium Park's AT&T Plaza, formerly known as Ameritech Plaza and SBC Plaza, was constructed between 2003 and 2005, by British artist, Anish Kapoor. The 110-ton, 33-foot high, 42-foot wide, 66-foot long was forged as a seamless series of highly polished stainless steel plates, which reflects and transforms the skyline and clouds. A 12-foot high arch provides a gate to the omphalos, a concave chamber on the underside that warps and multiplies reflections.Millennium Park, a 24.5-acre section of northern Grant Park, was opened on July 16, 2004. The park was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill on land that had been occupied by Illinios Central Railroad's railyards since 1852. The park features Crown Fountain, Jay Pritzker Pavilion, and Lurie Garden and connects to Grant Park via the BP Pedestrian Bridge and Nichols Bridgeway. |
