Because the market has shrunk, most of my sales are to a publication for librarians, but I take pride in making every puzzle fun and solvable.AT&T has a "crossword puzzle" game on their site (my.att.net) and it is just atrocious. I've seen computer-generated puzzles with no human interaction before, but usually they're trained a bit better than this!21-across: Archaic Second Person Singular Past Of Do<hm>1</hm> (DIDST. And yes, the <hm></hm> tags are part of the clue.)47-across: Lbrary Masters (MSINLS. That would be Master of Science in Library Science. And yes, the clue misspelled "Library".)14-down: Angles formed by two straight lines in the same plane (PLANEANGLES. Answers should never, ever appear in the clue directly. Unless you're Myles Freaking Callum or Liz Freaking Gorski and you know exactly what you're doing.)23-across: Professional Military Knowledge (PMK. Not interesting, just stupid.)3-down: Garboard Strake* (STRAKES. And yes, the asterisk was part of the clue. And no, "Garboard" does not mean "More Than One", which would upgrade this clue to moronic.)53-down: Grammatical Case Indicating Motion Out Of A Place (ELATIVE. I'd be elated if the person who makes money from this crap were indicating motion out of this galaxy.)And finally, because there are way too many fish in this barrel:8-down:Yes, that's right, there is NO CLUE for 8-down. Which is too bad, because at least "Incorrectly timestamps" or "Wastes of a Friday night?" would be better clues for MISDATES.If I have a choice between solving puzzles like these or bleeding to death from an abdominal wound, someone please swing a pickaxe at my pupik. |
