| 説明 | A new dance number, and this is what appears to be the harvesting song. I thought initially that these were brooms and brushes, but later realized what it was after seeing the baskets on the backs of the ladies. This is probably a rice harvest dance. Only the first lady is carrying paddies. I've taken several videos of these dances, but have uploaded only one of them here. (comes up later). This number somewhat reminded me of the old Boney-M song 'Plantation Boy', only that there was not a boy in sight! The population here appeared to be 100% female- the menfolk were probably out on the fields or gone to the city for work. (Longji Rice Terraces, near Guilin, China, May 2017) |
