| 説明 | On the walking tour of Vienne. It started out dry, but was forecast to rain, and eventually it did rain! Not that it stopped us from enjoying looking around the city!Rue Victor-HugoJardin de CybèleThe Archaeological Garden of Cybèle are archaeological remains of the Gallo Roman period , located in the commune of Vienne , in the French department of Isère.The site contains the complex vestiges of a district of the Gallo-Roman city, divided into three authenticable ensembles:Arcades of a portico bordering the area of the forum,Wall in large apparatus attesting to the existence of a room, of quadrangular plan, uncovered, destined probably to host meetings of the municipal assembly. The other remains are those of a residential area with, still identifiable, houses and terraces.Various items are listed under historic monuments in 2012, others are classified in 2013 1 (Cadastre Plot AZ52).To the south of the access point to the forum, a 48x38 m building presents its north wall still in elevation, in large limestone apparatus, with regular recesses, surmounted by an external cornice. The first foundations of the southern wall are preserved. The tiers (1/5 of a circle) inscribed between these two walls had this structure interpreted either as a theater of the mysteries of Cybele and Attis, or as an auditorium (for the assembly of the city?).The construction was dated from the beginning of the 1st century. This northern wall was used as a rampart during the construction of the strong house of the Channels against which the medieval wall was built. On a large part there was the Vienna Hospital destroyed during the commissioning of the current hospital of Mount Salomon.Sculpture |
