説明 | River Rhône from the Pont Wilson in Lyon.On our first evening in Lyon, we headed from Quai Victor Augagneur towards Quai Jules Courmont.Wilson Bridge (Lyon)The Wilson bridge spans the Rhone River in Lyon.A first bridge, the bridge of the Hôtel - Dieu or the Hospital was built in 1837 - 1839 by the contractor Clauzel, on behalf of the company of the bridges of the Rhone. This suspended bridge, 210 m long , rests on massive concrete piers protected by riprap. In 1887 , the condition of the bridge was deemed alarming and it was finally demolished in 1912 . It is replaced by a temporary wooden bridge, then by the Wilson bridge inaugurated on July 14, 1918 . The new bridge is much wider than the old one ( 20m vs 7 before); The sidewalks thus pass from 1.10 m to 4.50 m . It was at the time of a revolutionary structure since it was equipped with a reinforced concrete apron resting on stacks of stone masonry of the Villette . The bridge was damaged in September 1944 and it reopened permanently in 1948.boatsTowards the Pont Lafayette. |
