The present room, which was built in the 12th century, cannot be the site. However, it is possible it stands over or near the original site of the Last Supper.In the 16th century, the Ottomans converted the structure into a mosque, and replaced the windows. The Arabic text includes verses from the Koran, including a praise to King David (who is regarded as a prophet in Islam).There is also a Mihrab on the south wall, directed towards the Islam Holy city of Mecca. |
