| 説明 | The road from Jalalabad to Kabul has some serious inclines, and the large trucks have an assistant who rides along with wheel chocks. In the stop and go traffic that frequents the pass they basically walk the whole way, keeping the trucks from rolling backwards.They also serve to mediate traffic. Often the pass comes down to one lane, such as when one of the crappy (but festive) jingle trucks breaks down. The 'chockers' then direct traffic, passing the role on to the next chocker down the line as their truck passes the scene.I video taped a chocker doing his job. I find it fascinating. |
