| 説明 | This parish church has a huge dome: the fourth largest in the world.When the English were stationed in Malta during the war, they built an airfield nearby. The church ended up standing almost at the end of the new runway. One day there were 300 people in church at mass, when a 500lb German bomb came through the dome.It bounced up against one of the walls and skidded along the floor to a stop. It did not explode and no-one was killed or injured.The army eventually took it outside and diffused it, and the incident became regarded as a miracle. |
