説明 | Kingsmead March - Local Nature Reserve. It is located off North Walls in Stafford, Staffordshire, not far from the town centre.Historically, this site was once a large pool that supplied the Medieaval Royal Court with fish. By the 17th Century the pool had been drained and turned into meadows. These were known as the King's Meadows or 'Kingsmead'.Kingsmead Marsh was designated a Local Nature Reserve in 2003. It is classified as a County Wildlife Site due to its now uncommon marsh habitat. The site is also an 'outdoor classroom' used by Stafford College students who have undertaken many conservation tasks and wildlife surveys. The boardwalk was installed to allow public access for the first time into this secret part of Stafford. It was constructed by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and its volunteers in 2014. |
