| 説明 | Images before and after the performance of Lysistrata Interruptae at the state one act competition.This week the Morris Area High School one act crew took their show to the Minnesota State One Act Finals as one of the state's 8 Class A section winners. A bunch of us went out to support the this great cast and crew and had a really excellent time. It was a bumper crop of find plays this year, with four of the eight Class A plays (including Morris!) receiving the coveted "starred performance" distinction. I only got to see four of the eight Class A plays, but three of those were very deserving recipients of starred performance awards. The level of acting and production at this level was tremendously impressive; it was an honor to watch students come together and create what was truly art.The Morris play was a huge success both with the audience and the judges, with their story of censorship in high school theatre resonating strongly with that crowd. Lots of praise was heaped, but I'll limit myself to a comment a few of us overheard from some other students sitting behind us: "After a few minutes, I totally forgot they were acting".Happily there will be one more encore performance back in Morris for folks that missed it the first time. UMM's Theatre Discipline has generously invited them to perform in HFA's Proscenium Theatre at 7:30pm on Tuesday, 17 Feb 2009. This is very possibly the last time this great play will be performed, and almost certainly the last time by this group, so do whatever needs to be done to get yourself there!We weren't allowed to photograph during the performance, but I took a ton of photos as they put together their set (which included a small construction crisis that they managed quite well) before hand and took it down afterwards. I also took a bunch of photos during the awards ceremony.I'm going to upload these in two groups. The first (this group) is all the pictures that weren't horribly broken but nothing special. The second will be those that I deemed slightly more interesting in a very quick pass through the set. |
