説明 | With his In it Together design, James Croft wanted to reflect his overall impression of Sheffield as a city full of friendly people, eager to help out and welcome newcomers into the community. The idea behind the bubbles included in the elephant design is that they start small, with figures shown in isolation. But as they rise up the elephant leg, and move towards the city centre, the bubbles grow in size making more space for people to join together within them and reflecting the way in which the city brings people together. The main body of the elephant was created through paint work, whilst the dot detailing was completed through intricate pen work.Designed by: James CroftJames Croft was born in Yorkshire and graduated from Wolverhampton University with a first in Illustration. He now works as a full-time children’s book illustrator and artist and lives in Sheffield with his wife and two young daughters. James mostly works with acrylic and oil paint, but really enjoys experimenting with different materials and media, something which he often finds the most rewarding when working with young people. He has conducted many workshop sessions and young people’s imagination and creativity never ceases to amaze him. James has had more than 30 books published to date and has worked for dozens of clients including Aardman Animation, Marks and Spencers, BBC and Saatchi and Saatchi.Sponsored by: Counter ContextAuction Price: £6800Summer 2016, a herd of elephant sculptures descended on Sheffield for the biggest public art event the city has ever seen!58 elephant sculptures, each uniquely decorated by artists, descended on Sheffield’s parks and open spaces, creating one of the biggest mass participation arts events the city has ever seen.
