| 説明 | (All of these people were eventually arrested and charged with serious felonies, e.g., felony riot and conspiracy. Some were journalists and simple bystanders. This was bogus as it was doubtful any had anything to do with earlier violence which was some distance away. When first trials took place the government lost and eventually dropped all charges. In the meantime, many of these people lost jobs, incurred great expense, and otherwise had lives damaged.www.sfreporter.com/news/2018/08/01/yes-collusion-a-j20-ti...The U.S. Park Police had, I believe, cordoned this group of marchers off and up against a building (1201 L Street NW). They were there for some time and I don't know a) what motivated the federal USPP to take this action (which was not in a National Park) or how it was resolved. Some arrests were being made. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Department of DC kept the other thousand or more protesters and bystanders back a short distance (where this photo was taken from). The much larger group appeared reluctant to depart while those cordoned off against the building by the Park Police were still being held. Meanwhile, just a few streets away, other large groups of protesters were circulating and marching, and the Inauguration itself was taking place. Some Air National Guardsmen mingled with the protestors and other bystanders while all watched and waited for what would happen to those kettled off. While totally speculative, I was thinking at the time maybe this was a USPP tactic to occupy the protestors and keep them away from the Mall and parade route. Even if that was not their intent, it seemed to work out that way. I did not see any violence during the near two hours I was around this particular incident. On 23 Jan I noticed this article which is related:www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2017/01/inaugurati... None of the violent clashes that took place in the embedded video in this article were very near where this incident took place and I don't get the sense when looking that the "detainees" by the USPP were the same that had been involved in the other incidents, some of which took place while they were detained. This article seems to say the police believed that these detainees were responsible for earlier property destruction:www.denverpost.com/2017/01/23/denver-attorney-inauguratio...www.nationallawjournal.com/home/id=1202777311810/On-Inaug...www.documentcloud.org/documents/3388133-Complaint-PACER.html |
