説明 | Looking out from the entrance boardwalk leading into the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, I spotted this unsual python shaped water spout. And there are those ubiquitous ride paddies again- Bali is so full of them, they are everywhere, include on the grounds of the hotel I am staying in. This cool and dense swath of jungle, officially called Mandala Wisata Wanara Wana, houses three holy temples. The sanctuary is inhabited by a band of over 600 grey-haired long-tailed Balinese macaques who are nothing like the innocent-looking doe-eyed monkeys on the brochures. They seemed harmless enough but I've read elsewhere that they can bite and sometimes get aggressive due to which one has to be careful around them. And like everywhere else in Bali, although you can roam around freely within the park grounds, the three temples on site are only open to worshippers and to people clad in ethnic dress and proper prayer attire.
