| 説明 | On the 15th May 2008, a patrol from 3 Sqn RAF Regt. conducted a temporary mechanical workshop in the village of Morgān Kēchah, approximately 10 kilometres east of Kandahar Airfield. The aim of the workshop was to provide some expert mechanical assistance to the local population by conducting a simple servicing and repair workshop. The organic motor mechanics from the squadron provided the mechanical expertise and a Rifle Flight provided the force protection.Due to the remote location of the village and the poor condition of the primary roads and tracks in the area, the motorcycle is the primary form of mechanical transport available to the local population and accordingly, the majority of the servicing provided was for personal motorbikes.Twelve motorbikes were brought along for servicing, the majority requiring basic brake and clutch cable repairs with a few oil changes.A portable engine powered water pump, used for pumping drinking water and irrigation was also brought along and was able to be repaired. The water pump will now be able to be driven for the first time in several months, thereby ensuring a reliable source of water for the foreseeable future.An initial reconnaissance visit to the village had identified that there were a number of locals with some mechanical experience and so they were asked to assist in the conduct of the workshop, which they did willingly and enthusiastically, ensuring that the activity was a fantastic collaborative effect between ISAF forces and the local population.This activity was extremely well received by the population of Morgān Kēchah and ensured that ISAF efforts were presented in an extremely positive manner.3 Sqn RAF Regt. will now look toward planning further workshops in other villages surrounding Kandahar Airfield.
