| 説明 | A final look at the Saigon post office (notes in previous captions) before we move on. I had put up a short video of the local vendor grilling squid and we had just received our snack. (that video is unfortunately not available to my viewers on Facebook due to technical issues). The vendor was offering a fried version and a grilled version of the squid but my guide would have nothing of the fried stuff, as he did not know what it was being fried in, and recommended that we opt for the grilled version. It was ready in a couple of minutes but turned out to be rubbery, chewy and tough like leather. You can see him looking around warily for the authorities to show up. Good we had just finished our purchase- the guy suddenly dropped everything abruptly and sped off when a police car appeared. So after the abrupt departure of our squid vendor and after trying in vain to chew on the unbelievably chewy and leather like squid, we decided to chuck it and move on the the Benh Thanh market instead, to view the Street Food Market. So I took this picture of the post office again while waiting for the taxi. (Saigon/ HCM, Vietnam, Nov. 2016) |
