説明 | Restaurant meal completed, the only thing left to do now was to return to the hotel for a bit of a shut eye. My guide had other ideas though, especially as I had asked him about the famous Notre Dame cathedral and the Saigon French era post office. He very kindly agreed to take me there. But before that, he wanted to show me this- the walking street. Saigon’s Nguyen Hue St is a 60m wide pedestrian strip that runs from the colonial era People’s Committee Building, with its Ho Chi Minh statue, 900 metres down to the Saigon River. The nightly congregation of locals here is a great experience of people watching. And there are some interesting little pieces of architecture and other tidbits along the way too. This picture was taken in less than ideal conditions hand held and without flash, and in a heavy drizzle, so please excuse the mediocre photo quality. (Saigon/ HCM, Vietnam, Nov. 2016) |
