説明 | One of those places that I'd always been very fond of, but never actually visited, until now. It's a superb example of a 'montage castle': extended and altered over the years, but not so much that the changes obliterate the past.Mind you, rather than just look at it on screen, I'd highly recommend a visit: the scones in the tea room are just lovely, and you can work off those calories in the adventure playground... Though, umm, that might be meant for kids... Oh, and it's also great fun searching for the soft-toy-owls hidden in every room... What? You say that's meant for the kids too?! Ah well; for those of a more academic interest, just marvel in the way this place is so interwoven with Scottish history, connected to almost anyone of any importance, including top architects of the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries... Oh and the plasterwork that rivals anything those piffling little monarchs had in Edinburgh! |
