説明 | Ouerbacker mansion at 1633 W. Jefferson St. Built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style in the 1860s by coffee merchant, Samuel Ouerbacker (1841-1922). For part of the 1920s and 1930s, it also was the home of the Rev. George C. Clement, a bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. From the 1930s to the 2000s it was owned by a tax business, which ended up owing a lot of money to the city, who took over the property in 2005 (with a wacky side story being that the former owner was trying to sell it for $100,000 even though she no longer owned it).The city is currently trying to sell it, hopefully to a buyer who will restore it, though that will be very expensive to do (the city estimates over a million dollars).Summary written by me based on a 4/14/06 Courier Journal article.Check it out: memory.loc.gov/pnp/habshaer/ky/ky0300/ky0318/photos/03760...
