説明 | St. Paul, MinnesotaJanuary 17, 2017Around 70 protesters gathered outside the office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Fort Snelling to call for the release of the "Minnesota 8". Eight Cambodian Americans in Minnesota were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in 2016. The "MN 8" were previously convicted of crimes ranging from property damage to second-degree murder. Even those who have served their sentences were rounded up and scheduled for deportation to Cambodia. Their families fled Cambodia as refugees in the 1970's.Chamroeun Phan was born in a refugee camp in Thailand, and arrived in Minnesota in 1984. A pot possession charge and a property damage conviction in 2009 led to him being detained in 2016 to be sent to Cambodia, a country he's never been in.2017-01-17 This is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License.
