| 説明 | On a hot, overcast day we found this resting on the ends of Conospermum stoechadis spent flowers.I first thought this was a window-fly but Dr David Yeates, CSIRO identified it as a Tangled-vein fly Nemestrinidae Cyclopsidea, an extremely rare fly. Length c. 10 mm. We found the male perched on the end of a flower stalk. The eyes refracted a wonderful light when we photographed it. Photo: FredUpdate:10 Jan 2017 Not a window fly Another update coming soon! :-)12 Jan 2017 Details updated aboveDr Yeates informed that these were from the Nemestrinidae, tangle-vein group: possibly Cyclopsidea hardyi, collected by George Hardy, 1920’s SW of Brisbane, Queensland and named by Mackerras 1925. The Hardy collection was the only Cyclopsidea known to science in Australia. bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.t... Our collection might be either Cyclopsidea hardyi or Cyclopsidea sp. Records show that the Hardy collection was destroyed. Dr Yeates indicated that he had never seen a live specimen of Cyclopsidea. David appeared quite keen to see our specimens and for us collect more for study purposes. |
