説明Scheelite from Ontario, Canada - fluorescing under ultraviolet light.A mineral is a naturally-occurring, solid, inorganic, crystalline substance having a fairly definite chemical composition and having fairly definite physical properties. At its simplest, a mineral is a naturally-occurring solid chemical. Currently, there are about 5900 named and described minerals - about 200 of them are common and about 20 of them are very common. Mineral classification is based on anion chemistry. Major categories of minerals are: elements, sulfides, oxides, halides, carbonates, sulfates, phosphates, and silicates.Scheelite is a calcium tungstate mineral (CaWO4). It has a nonmetallic luster, is variably colored, moderately hard (H = 4.5 to 5), has one cleavage plane, is fairly heavy for its size, and fluoresces an intense blue under ultraviolet light. Scheelite occurs in igneous & metamorphic rocks, and is a ore mineral for tungsten (W).Locality: unrecorded site at or near Timmins, eastern Ontario, southeastern Canada---------------Photo gallery of scheelite:www.mindat.org/gallery.php?min=3560
