説明 | This landmark neoclassical-style cultural center was designed by the famous Spanish architect-sculptor Manuel Tolsá. It was originally used as a shelter for widows, the elderly, and orphans; later it was a home for indigent children. Today its 106 rooms and 23 flower-filled patios house permanent and revolving art exhibitions (ask for an English-speaking guide at the front desk). The central dome and walls of the main chapel display a series of murals painted by José Clemente Orozco in 1938-39, including The Man of Fire, widely considered his finest work. In all, there are 57 murals by Orozco, plus many of his smaller paintings, cartoons, and drawings. $1, free Sun. Tues.-Sat. 10:15-5:45, Sun. 10:15-2:30.www.concierge.com/destination/guadalajara/attraction/Prop... |
